End of the Year Update

So the end of the year is quickly approaching and I'm very excited to be able to share what all my wonderful teams have done for their clients so far.

Although the walk isn't until the spring, the Athens MS Walk group is already working very hard to make this year's walk an even bigger success than last year's. The group is steadily working towards gaining corporate sponsorship to aid in the costs of putting the walk together as well as gaining donations from local businesses for food, decorations, and other materials that make the walk unique. The group has also been working hard on a media kit which they plan to use to gain publicity for the walk closer to time. With goals of 375 participants, 30 teams, and raising $40,000, the group definitely has a busy spring semester, but I have no doubt that this group can handle it and I can't wait to see how this year's walk turns out!

The Women to the World account has already raising awareness and some money through a percentage night that they have been holding once a month at Athens' local Raising Cane's. They are working especially hard to try and plan a possible benefit dinner in the spring called "Girls Night Out: Women Helping Women of the World" featuring various cultural groups around the city that will perform for the organization's business attendees and others. They are also hoping to have a booth at at least one festival in the spring where they will raise awareness of the organization through handing out information as well as possibly raise some money through selling pieces of art provided by UGA's art department. These two ideas sound super fun and exciting and I know that you all can pull them off. Keep up the great work!

The Brain Train group has steadily been collaborating with UGA's student-run advertising firm, HSBT, to coordinate concepts and ideas for their campaign. The group has also been putting together an electronic press-kit as well as updating their e-newsletter and facebook group to help promote the organization. They are hoping to execute some ideas next semester that were brought up at the Brain Train Gala which took place on November 14th. They are also planning to complete a guerilla marketing stunt that will take place next semester. One of their ideas is to have a human train going down the congested area of 316 and handing out bumper stickers that say "I'd Rather Be on the Brain Train." I think this idea will spark a lot of interest and I can't wait to see how it comes together!

The Washington Farms group had a very busy first semester promoting the farm's biggest event: the corn maze. The group used various tactics to gain awareness such as e-mailing listservs, starting a Facebook group, and distributing flyers and brochures to sororities during their chapter meetings. They also collaborated with Relay for Life on a percentage night and submitted a press release that made the front page of the Red & Black! After a busy semester, they are gearing up for next semester where they plan to participate in the farm's strawberry season. A strawberry cook-off, perhaps? :) I guess we'll have to wait and see!

The Tumornators' group has been busy promoting their event Rock4Research which took place last Friday on November 23rd. The event was a VIP party hosted by Atlanta Braves player, Jeff Francoeur and featured performances by various music groups. To promote the event, they visited Greek chapter meetings, put up signs around campus, and created a press kit which they distributed to various media outlets around Athens and Atlanta. The group was featured on UGA's night news to promote the event. There were also articles featured in the Gwinnett Daily Post and the Red & Black, and the group handed out handbills at the Tate student center as one of the bands featured at the event performed. It sounds like this group did an amazing job of getting the word out for such a wonderful event. I can't wait to see what's in store for next semester!

I want to personally thank all of the groups for working soooo hard this semester! I am beyond impressed with everything you all have been able to do in such a short period of time. I know it took a little while to get things moving in the right direction and I feel so confident that next semester will be more than successful. As usual, please let me know of any problems or complications you run into that I can help with. Aaaaand don't forget about our wrap-up meeting on December 5th! Feel free to e-mail me with any questions about this. Hope to see you all next week! :)
